They were forming the Arabs' media at that time; they used to say (the same as the western media today do) that Muhammad is so and so and the Quran is fabricated etc. Nevertheless, Allah, unlike the Biblical God, did not kill those who mocked His Prophet.
In the Quran, Allah discloses the unseen and told the disbelievers who mocked the Prophet Muhammad how they will be at the Day of Judgment, what they will say when they realize the ruth and what the Angels will say unto them.
